You are currently viewing Learn Italian with songs

Learning a new language through music is extremely powerful, increases your enjoyment and motivation. It is convenient as music is portable and you can listen to your favourite songs anywhere. Above all, it gives a context to words; researchers have warned that learning a new language by repeating isolated words won’t get you far. Conversely, learning in context will give those words a meaning and they will stick with your long term memory more easily.

Who is the original singer-songwriter?

lucio

Lucio Battisti was born on the 5th of March 1943 in Poggio Bustone, a small town situated in the province of Rieti, in the Lazio region. He unfortunately died on the 9th of September 1998, generating an unprecedented wave of emotion among Italians who still consider him one of the most influential singer-songwriter and composer who shaped the Italian music during late 1960s and 1970s.

Lucio Battisti released 18 studio albums from 1969 to 1994, with a significant number of albums being translated into Spanish, English (one album), French (two albums), and German (one album). He was known to be a really reserved artist, as a matter of fact; he performed only a small number of live concerts during his career.

In 1978, he announced he would communicate to the public only through his musical work and decided to limit himself to the recording of studio albums. Since then, he disappeared from the public scene.

Un’avventura

Non sarà un’avventura
non può essere soltanto una primavera,
questo amore non è una stella
che al mattino se ne va
Oh no no no no no no

Non sarà un’avventura
questo amore è fatto solo di poesia
tu sei mia, tu sei mia
fino a quando gli occhi miei

avran luce per guardare gli occhi tuoi

Innamorato sempre di più
in fondo all’anima per sempre tu,
perchè non è una promessa
ma è quel che sarà
domani e sempre, sempre vivrà,
sempre vivrà, sempre vivrà, sempre vivrà.

No! Non sarà un’avventura, un’avventura
non è un fuoco che col vento può morire
ma vivrà quanto il mondo
fino a quando gli occhi miei
avran luce per guardare gli occhi tuoi.

Innamorato sempre di più
in fondo all’anima per sempre tu,
perchè non è una promessa
ma è quel che sarà, domani e sempre
sempre vivrà

perchè non è una promessa
ma è quel che sarà, oh no, domani e sempre
sempre vivrà, sempre vivrà, sempre vivrà

English Translation

It’s not going to be
an affair.
It can’t be just a spring.
This love
is not a star
which disappears in the morning.
Oh no no no no no no.

It won’t be
an affair.
This love is made only of poetry.
You are mine
you are mine
as long as my eyes
will be able to look at your eyes.

I am more and more
in love.
In the deep of my soul
there will be you forever.
It’s not a just promise,
because it will be so.
Tomorrow and forever,
it will live forever,
it will live forever,
it will live forever,
it will live forever.

No, it’s not going to be
an affair… an affair.
It’s not a fire which could go out with the wind,
but it will live
as the world does,
as long as my eyes
will be able to look at your eyes.

I am more and more
in love.
In the deep of my soul
there will be you forever.
It’s not a just promise,
because it will be so.
Tomorrow and forever,
it will live forever,
because I am more and more
in love.
In the deep of my soul
there will be you forever.
It’s not a just promise,
because it will be so, oh no,

Tomorrow and forever,
it will live forever, it will live forever, it will live forever.
